The One Word

July 17th, 2009

Know how you’re always being asked for that one word that defines you? That communicates who you are? That describes your essence?

Here’s a little Friday fun: I asked my Tweeps to fill in the verb in RenĂ© Descartes’ famous saying. All of them are considerably more multifaceted than one word, but it’s intriguing to see the word they connect with the most.

Here are a few, some lighthearted, some earnest:

And possibly my favorite:

Thanks to @overthinker, @donbart, @davidlwatts, @PookyMedia, @jgombita, @wrecklucy, @sherster, @MeanRachel, @alextanPR, @RebeccaDenison, @mikebsacks, @HeenaPRGal, @jasonbuck, @amyeandrews, @JGrassman, as well as everyone else who responded on Facebook.

You’re here, therefore I am.

What’s your word?

My one word would be “I observe, therefore I am.”

“I warp fragile little minds, therefore I am.”

(OK, technically that’s more than one word, but that phrase does sum me up pretty well…)

Thanks, Lisa & Sonia (and that latter one is hilarious!).

    Couple Things…

This blog is where I sound off, mellow out and generally articulate thoughts I can no longer keep inside my head. It does not reflect the opinions of my clients, former employers, or anyone else. Well, perhaps sometimes those of my dog, Suzy Q... no, seriously, it's just me.

Oh, one other thing: my blog = my sandbox. To play here, please be nice. Polite argument and respectful agreements to disagree are fine. Abusiveness is not. And you take responsibility for your comments - just as this is my blog, those are your comments, not mine.

Phew. Glad that's over with. Let's play.
