Thanks, Robin - yes, meeting folks like you I previously only "knew" on Twitter was definitely a highlight for me as well. I think the point you make about the learning center booth is a good one. I had two slots there as well, and except for the one person who came by (whom you helped out), I might as well as not been there. It was still good to use that time to get to know a few other people, but I think a learning center such as this is most effective when it's open outside of the main conference. Because really, who's going to leave the main panels/sessions to go by a booth? But as your post pointed out, it's a great idea and one other conference organizers would do well to emulate.

Steve, thanks so much for stopping by. I'm relieved my card isn't going to end up on a big screen somewhere. ;-) Yes, I'd love to catch up soon IRL again. Indique should watch out for us!

What did I enjoy other than finally meeting you in person?

The networking opportunities. There were so many people I'd been following on Twitter that it was great to finally meet them!

I also thought Chris Anderson from WIRED did a great job with his opening talk. I took a lot of notes. (I highlighted one particular point he shared on the CCG blog: http://capitalcommunicatorsgroup.blogspot.com/2009/09/growsmartbiz-conference-takeaway-1.html)

As to what I would have done differently, I posted one of my thoughts on that, in relation to the Experts Answer Booth, on the CCG blog as well: http://capitalcommunicatorsgroup.blogspot.com/2009/10/growsmartbiz-conference-take-2-expert.html

Shonali,

It was great to finally meet you. I now know that you have been hiding in your home office which is why we don't see you more.

Glad you like the biz card presentation. I would never single out people in the audience with biz cards they gave me. It is bad form and with all the fodder on the Internet you never need to - two words for you - Meat Cards.

I too as a customer think the conference rocked. Even though NetSol is a client I have been to enough of these conferences disappointed and pissed that I wasted my money. As a small business owner I learned a ton and got to see some people F2F that I never see so that was a bonus. This is truly a small business event that should happen every year and be on both coasts.

On the Senator Warner speech. I think it had relevance to small businesses because in some debates there might be taxes that could impact our companies and many SMB owners are trying to understand how it will affect them.

Hope you are able to emerge out of your home office soon for an event so we can see your smiling face. Can you say Tweetup at Indique???
