A couple weeks ago, Erica Allison blogged about focusing your online efforts where your sources of revenue are located. I agree, and commented wholeheartedly to that effect. I mentioned that the friendships we build along the way are the icing on the cake.

In honor of Thanksgiving, I wanted to talk about that icing on the cake; not about business development.

Remember that feeling: maybe of love at first sight, or simply meeting a new friend with whom you hit it off right away?

It’s a lot harder for that to happen online, but it does happen on occasion, doesn’t it?

Being Thankful

Jamaica's beautiful beachesAs I write this, it is just past 6 a.m. ET. My world is quiet at the moment; the rest of the household is asleep and when I walked out onto my deck a few minutes ago (the sky is beautifully clear!), even the roar of traffic seems to have been temporarily lulled.

It is also less than three days until I go on vacation.

A real vacation, where I’ll be soaking up the sun in Jamaica, with no computer, no work and minimal online activity (though I might post vacation photos to Facebook, since a lot of my friends want them).

I can’t wait!

Here in the U.S. most people are getting ready for Thanksgiving, replete with family fun (and feuds) and the onslaught of Black Friday sales immediately after. I, however, am going to escape all that.

Being Thankful For What Is Not

If you are in the U.S., you are on Day 2 of the Thanksgiving holiday (and hopefully you have the day off).

You’ve eaten a lot, maybe planning to hit the sales today (even better, you’re doing that online), and perhaps done your bit to give back by volunteering somewhere… all the while, giving thanks for everything you have.
